Miho Beachfront
Extensive black sand beaches wrap the north-eastern coastline of the Miho peninsula and offer one of the best views of Mt. Fuji in all Japan.
- Bring a camera and a bite to eat. Get a classic shot of Fujisan across Suruga Bay and soak in the view over a picnic. There is plenty of space for groups and is a fun afternoon activity for the whole family.
- Watch sail surfers skim across the water on the western shore or rent one yourself if you’re daring.
- Listen for the whistles of a flock of black kites soaring above your head and keep a watchful eye on the water to spy on the wildlife.
- Visit the famous Miho shrine and walk along the Kami no Michi (God’s Road), a pedestrian path lined by centuries-old pine trees.

Access
- There is a pedestrian/bike path around Shimizu harbour that leads from the sidewalk in front of the S-Pulse Dream Plaza to the Miho shipyard. Upon exiting turn right and then the immediate left and continue until you can see the water. Cycling slowly may take 40minutes.
- A ferry service connects the Miho beachfront from the Shimizu Marine Terminal. The cost for a one-way journey is 400 yen.

- Better to choose a clear sky day for the scenic image of Mt. Fuj.

Minowa Inari Shrine
A certifiable hidden gem, this Inari shrine (like the famous Fushimi Inari of Kyoto) is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of the guesthouse.
- You can’t miss the passes of iconic torii gates at the entrance to the grounds. Experience the tunnels for what they are to the locals, part of a place of quiet worship. There are stone statues of two foxes guarding the shrine against rats.
- This shrine is a short walk from other interesting local sights as the Baiin-Zen-Ji Temple (museum and shop open only to tourists) and Shimizu no Jiro-cho residence (free entry and a volunteer offered English tours available) as well as the Shimizu Port Memorial Hall and Verkehr Museum (entry fee is 400yen, closed on Mondays).

- Minowa Inari and its surrounding sights are roughly 2km from the front door the guesthouse, and a straight forward walk or bike ride way.

Kunōzan Tōshōgu Shrine
Join worshippers venture up a seaside cliff to a beautiful 400-year-old shrine and museum. With each step, you can enjoy constant views of the pacific ocean, as well as delicious local strawberries in the town below.
- Main shrine and museum 500 yen admission fee (for adults)
- The scenic staircase is longer than it is steep, but scenic all the. A ropeway connects the grounds with the Nihondaira viewing terrace.
- The town below is famous for its fresh strawberries and (when in season) offer a pick your own strawberry activity in the greenhouses. There are various cafes and stands that offer tasty strawberry snacks.

Access
- Visitors can bypass the staircase by travelling via the ropeway which connects the entrance of the main shrine with the Nihondaira Park Center that sits atop the natural park.

- Pedestrian paths along the beach offer a stunning bike ride or a long walk from town.

Nihondaira Park Center
It won 1st prize of Japan’s tourist attraction top 100 competition, with the panoramic view of Mt. Fuji seen over the tea plantation, Shimizu harbor, Izu peninsula, and the Japanese Southern Alps. The view is truly the best in Japan. You will find a terrace platform on top of the mountain to enjoy the surrounding area in 360′ view.
Access
- 15 minutes by car, from the guesthouse.
- If you dare cycling, it is 5km long steep ride path from the road at the bottom along the lines of tea and fruit fields.
Shimizu Harbourfront
A cultural center of Shimizu, the harbourfront offers entertainment, food, ferries, and fun for the whole family.
- Weekend flea markets, holiday events and street performers.
- Small amusement park with a Ferris wheel and a children’s playground.
- Dream Plaza: various food and shops, large arcade, movie theatre on the top floor. Every day about 6-8 pm, seafood meals discount down by 20-30% at the counter of the main hall 1st floor. There is a Sushi museum (fee is 500yen), Heritage Museum corner free for the public in the plaza.

- Complex store for sea items, there is no a tuna cutting show in January.


Buddhist temples and parks
- Kojoji temple has graveyards, bell, no benches.
- Hoyunji temple has graveyards, bell, well, two benches. A quiet spot.
- Hamada park is small, having a kids playground and benches. Might be not quiet due to regularly train to pass.
Shizuoka Sengen Shrine, together with Sunpu Castle Park
In the heart of Shizuoka city, an accumulation of various shrines exists in the mountain. Downwards from the shrine, you can go to Sunpu Castle Park. There is a castle ruin surrounded by public parks. Once, it was told Edo (current Tokyo) was ruled by this castle residents. Kunozan Toshogu Shrine is the resting place for this castle founder Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Izu peninsula
Tropical weather, blue sea, a quality hiking path describe Izu. A ferry connects Shimizu Port and Nishiizu Toi Port in about 70 minutes each way.
